These Ming chairs have retained their original patina.
They are commonly called' Deng Gua Yi', which means lamp. The backrest of these chairs looks like the support, on which two lanterns were suspended.
Sometimes referred as "yoke-shaped backrest", this type of seat belonged to the wealthier classes.
