This pair of armchairs with rattan seats and original red lacquer is called 'Nan Guan Mao Yi' because the shape of the back looks like a South China official's hat from the Ming Dynasty.
The carving of a pomegranate under the seat is the traditional lucky pattern in China which means many children and much luck. These armchairs were used by a wealthy family.
